What is the Protocol for bringing Thermal paste through TSA?

I will be traveling from the USA to India and while I've been home I bought some Thermal paste for my gaming computer back in my college in India. What is the protocol for getting this stuff through TSA? Do I have to check it in and declare it? Or can i simply put it in a plastic bag and stick it in my carry on? It is still in its original packaging if that matters at all. Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated as I am leaving in 1 week. Thank you!

I think this is a question that would best be posed to the customs department. What we suggest or advice means nothing if they tell you something different or think you're bringing contraband on board.

Although it doesn't seem to be on the list of contraband items on the TSA website, I'd still check with them first.
