I have a samsung galaxy 10.1 2014 edition tablet. My daughter was watching videos on it I thought she drained the battery. At first it looked like lights on the sides were out. So, the screen was brighter in the middle than on the sides. I decided to turn it off and then on again. When I did that it turned on, but the screen is all black. It responded to touch and I can hear it, but nothing. Any ideas or is it toast?

It sounds like either the screens connection was dislodged and needs to be reconnected, or the screen has gone out.

That you mentioned it being different levels of brightness on different parts of the scredn makes me think the screen has be damaged and needs replacing.

You have the option to do that yourself, should you feel comfortable doing so. Just be very careful as there are delicate parts in there. Here is a video on how to replace it. Take a look at it and see if you feel you could do it yourself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogVhYYakE6A

If you don't think you can, then I would suggest finding a tech in your area who could do the replacement for you.
