Unlock a sprint iPhone 5 to work on GSM networks

Bought an iPhone 5 on Amazon website supposedly to be unlocked to work on any GSM network. It wasn't. The imei starts with 99, and no one seems able to help unlocking my iPhone. Thanks for any help I can get.
