I brought a laptop off a friend (alienware m11x r2) for 200$ and it was going good until i saw the temperatures it was operating, it was idling at 70-80c ... so I turned it off replaced the thermal paste ... turned it back on... temps were idling at 40-50c few minutes late the screen turned blue.... held down the power button... and it never turned back on... I push the power button all the leds come on and I hear the fan speed all the way up for about 5 seconds then turn off....

If I have it plugged in it will loop... turn itself back on...

I have tried reseating ram
Clearing BIOS

im suspecting bad mb??

ps I used mx-2 thermal paste if that matters

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help in solving the issue.
- Start by doing a hard reboot, remove the battery and unplug its AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then try booting it back up.
- If these doesn't work do try to reseat the RAM's, remove them all for couple of seconds then put them back in making sure everything is seated properly.
- Do also test the AC adapter just to make sure it's not the problem.
- If all these will not work you may need to open the laptop again and retrace the steps you did with the laptop just to make sure everything is seated properly.
- Worst case is if all these will not work the problem will be the motherboard.
