Sim card problem

I put a sim card in my Samsung Galaxy tablet. But when I download anything it says not enough storage. Its not using the space thats available on the card, its only using it from the tablet which isn't much that's why I wanted a sim card. Under the storage settings it shows I have available space on the sim card. But it won't use it when I download. I would like to know how to use the space from the card.
