I just started university and i want to buy an ultrabook that i can easily carry around, take to classes etc. I was hoping for suggestions.

Criteria:

My Price range: Under £700 (Ideally at around £400)
Want: Long battery life (around 6hrs+), Minimum of 4GB RAM and 256GB hard drive and intel core i5 processor.

I was wondering if it is possible to find all the above. Help :)

Greetings, unistudent:

Did you say 700 quid? Oookay... Here we go:

1) Lenovo Yoga 14-inch at £600.

Very stylish and flexible and weighs 1.6 kg. Battery life is unlikely to exceed 4 hours (reviews).

2) Lenovo ThinkPad E series 15.6-inch at £526.

This is heavier at 2.35 kg but should get "up to" 9 hours of battery life (Lenovo).

3) ASUS Zenbook 13.3-inch at £649.

Very light at 1.2 kg with a 128 GB SSD HDD. Battery life is above 5 hours (tested).

4 Apple MacBook Air 13.3-inch at £683.

Light at 1.4 kg with a 128 Flash HDD. Battery life in excess of 10 hours (Apple).

I've included the ThinkPad although it's definitely not an ultrabook. It will, however, be able to handle anything you come across during college, and also serve you well for many years after graduation. It's a ThinkPad after all...

I know you also said "ideally £400", and in that case I suggest you visit amazon.co.uk, select Computers & laptops and click the section with Laptop Deals. You can get lots of laptops around £400 if you're willing to act quickly (within a few days).

Best of luck with your new life,
GreyCatz.
