Samsung galaxy 3 HELP! ran out of charge and now won't turn on/charge.

Phone ran out of charge and now will not turn on or charge (blank screen) tryed taking battery out for a time but did solve. Tried pressing volume button and power together but yet again did not help. Charger is ok. Would anyone have any idea how to solve this issue.

Perhaps it's a dead battery? S3 batteries are easy to replace and should be relatively inexpensive to purchase online.
