I bought the Phenom II x4 960T for an upgrade from a Athlon II x4 630. After Windows did it's thing I opened EasyTune6 to see if I could unlock any cores. After the restart I went in to CPUZ to see what I had. And what to my wondering eyes appears a AMD Thuban Phenom II x6 1605T pulled by 6 magical cores. But what the hell is it? :heink: And how can I play with it? ;)

Wow what a coincidence lol .. I just did the same thing. LMAO

Good bye to my Athlon II x4 630, and thanks for your unlocked Phenom II 970 awesomeness !

Helloooo Phenom II x6 1605T !!! :bounce:

edit...

plz check out my new sig ;) 3.4ghz on stock volts !

Interesting how the cpu's name changes from a 1605T to a 1600T once I OC it. :)

I got it up to 3.6mhz with stock voltage. But I just want to know where the Phenom II x6 1605T falls in with the other x6's. It's a BE so i'm guessing a 1090 or 1100. I was wondering whats not working on it to make it a 1605.

Well at 3.0GHz (std) it would be equal to the 1075T!

Was looking at your CPUz an don't know if you didn't notice but your DDR3 is not Ganged thus it is only running at half bandwidth. Or am I wrong and its intentional for stable OC.
Even still in memory demanding tasks like gaming it would serve you better than a 1-400MHz OC.

I just got my Thuban 960T, the one not released that has Turbo CORE technology.
Is yours the one you can by on newegg? The Zosma Core. An if so does it have Turbo?

I wasn't as lucky as you only unlocked 1 core an not 2. But grateful anyway. 5 Cores not bad.

The memory ganging thing is whether you mostly run single threaded or multithreaded apps. If you only run games that use only 1 core then ganged mode is best. But if you do anything else like video encoding on the side or anything multi threaded use unganged mode.

And the 960T is basically a die harvested 1075T with 2 cores disabled.

Thanks for the info, will be even more useful with bulldozer cores. I use premiere Pro CS 5.5 and a lot of BIONC like SETI ect.. along with CUDA.

I guess I'll reboot and change that, again thanks Mathos

Hi Anarex :)

My mobo runs the ram like that by default and I do not think changing it will affect stability with overclocking.

As Mathos said, some apps/games will benefit from changing it to 'ganged'. When in unganged mode the memory is run using a 2x 64 bit memory interface while ganged uses 1x 128 bit.

@saint7269 Thx for the vote ! :)
