The problem is that Verizon only lets you view your past bills online (for fee) for the last 18 months, which is (of course) not far enough to view your bills past the JAN 2014 date in which they stopped charging the SMS fee. You can pay $5 for all of you bills, but that would offset some of what they owe you in the first place... God bless capitalism!
