Could someone tell me what it means when someone measures laptop consumption during the battery charge in watts?

My real question comes from this article:

Here in the section "Energy Efficiency" it is stated that the laptop "consumed a total of 11348.7 watts" to charge its battery for 3 and a half hours. Where does it came from?
I'm with the impression Watts are used to measure the demands and for consumption it is used Watts-per-hour...
What does it mean consumed a total of 11348.7?

Maybe they mean watt-seconds (Joules)? That still doesn't fit though; that's about 3W·h and laptops typically have batteries in the 40-90W·h range. Watt-minutes would be too much.

That said, you're also slightly confused on units. I would normally consider consumption to be watts, as it's an instantaneous measure of power. You may be thinking of capacity or total energy use, which would be (kilo)joules or watt-hours (not watts per hour; there are pretty much no scenarios where that unit would be applicable).
