Wondering if new laptop backlight bleed is acceptable

I bought a new MSI GT72 2QE. I never heard of backlight bleed before this, and I have only bought cheap low-end products before.

The bottom right half is quite accurate, and only turning the brightness to zero does it go away.

For me this feels unacceptable for such an expensive product but I read they have a reputation for it.

Does anyone else have experience with MSI GT72s, and can I expect better if I exchange?
