In your opinion, which laptop is better? Both the Lenovo Y40 and Y50 cost $999 so price is not a factor.

In terms of gaming the Y50 destroys the Y40 in every way.

Quad core processor vs dual core
16GB ram vs 8GB ram
GTX860m vs R9 m275x

If you are looking for a gaming laptop this is a much better way to go as in the long term you can just upgrade the SSD to a bigger size if needed or just buy an external hard drive. The 4k screen is also an advantage however don't expect to be gaming at that resolution (more likely 1080p).
