Not Enough Space - Transfer apps from phone to microsd

Just got a phone - first one ever - and I've only a limited space on my internal. My brother gave me a microsd adapter yet i don't know how to back up my files. I've got this app/game that I really love yet it keeps crashing due to lack of storage. I don't know how to back it up!! Pls help..
