Hi!

I would like to buy a laptop that is good for gaming and it is performant enough for programming(not video editing).
I have budget for both of these laptops, but i just can't decide which one to buy.
First I found a Lenovo G510 (650$) //i7-4700mq[quad] 2.4GHz , 6m cache, 8GB RAM , 1TB + 8GB ssh ,15.6" HD, AMD Radeon R7 M265 2GB, 6cell battery//
-pro:very good processor, 6cell battery
-con:the good processor needs lots of electricity(47W)
then I found a Lenovo Z50-70 (750$) //i7-4510u[dual] 2.0GHz, 4m cache, 16GB RAM, 1TB + 8GB ssd, 15.6" full HD, nVidia GeForce GT 840M 4GB, 4cell battery//
-pro:16GB RAM, 4GB nVidia, fullHD monitor
-con:D ual core 2GHz, 4cell battery
Is it worth buying the Z50-70 for +100$?

More about : decide lenovo g510 lenovo z50

Do you play games often? Cause the performance on the Z50 would be worse, but it has PhysX.

Yes, quite often. Why would the performance of the Z50 be worse?

Both are nice models but I would definitely choose the G510.
If you'r main reason behind purchasing a new laptop is for programming, then 8GB of RAM is the magic number, anything else is just wasted entirely. The Geforce GT 840M is only marginaly better than the AMD Radeon R7 M265 and the 4GBs on a GPU is a marketing ploy

Purchasing the Z50-70, your are paying $100 for 8GB extra of wasted RAM which could be invested elsewhere, the benifits of a more powerful quad core processor and a better battery making the G510 the better choice by far for your needs

Thank you for your fast reply, but I would like to use it for gaming too, not just programming.
Even in that case you would choose the G510?

In the case for gaming I would still choose the more powerful processor of the G510 any day and also having the quad core makes your laptop more 'future-proof' comparing to the dual-core of the Z50-70.
8gb is the maximum for the top games on the market as of now and will be for some time

Plus if you take a look at this GPU comparison link below you can see that your $100 would be better spent elsewhere.

Did you notice which GPU-s are you comparing? In your link there is the R7 M265 vs the 840M, not the GT 840M which has 4 GB..
"Nvidia GeForce 840M
1 GHz 1 GB DDR3"
I wanted to compare those two, but you can't find the GT 840M on that site.

Yes you are correct, but the 4gb of VRAM on the Nvidia GeForce 840M vs the 2gb on the Radeon R7 M265 is basically extremely marginal with tests on top games of only a couple FPS difference and definitely not worth. Check this link below

Thank you very much Danthebugg!
