tablet won't turn on

I have a RCA 7in tablet powered by android & the 5v charger that came with it broke so I bought a new one but when I plug it in it don't turn on. Shouldn't @ least a battery light come on letting u know it's charging. I get nothing There is another port that my android phone charger fits into will that charge my tablet.Granted it has been dead for ovr a month but shouldn't it turn on once its getting power. Plz help its brand new & has nothing wrong with it other than the charger breaking

Sometimes these things are picky about the charger. Just because it fits, the voltage may not be correct.

If it came with a connection cable, I would try charging it over a USB port which may be a better match for the voltage required.
