Value of Criterion Blade Runner?

I'm sick of waiting for the SE DVD of Blade Runner to come out and with these
pending legal issues, it's not coming anytime soon. Does anyone have a fair
idea of what the Criterion LD is worth? If memory serves me, the Criterion LD
has the European cut and the proper 2.50:1 aspect ratio so that's what I want.

A laserdisc dealer from Spokane told me that a disc is worth whatever
it's worth to you to have it, basically. The best way I've found to
get an idea of what other people are willing to pay (on eBay, anyway)
is to go into the "completed items" listings for the item you're
interested in and look at the closing prices.

I paid $30 for mine on EBAY. I've seen them go even higher.

If you got the CAV version with all of the supplements, then you got a
good deal. However, if you got the bare bones CLV version, then you
didn't.

None turned up on EBay when I looked, that's why I came asking here. But I'll

The Criterion CAV BR set rarely turns up on eBay UK, look on eBay US and
you'll see some, average ending price is $50-$100, a 2 disc laserdisc set
shouldn't cost more than $20 to post via airmail from the US or Canada,
I'm getting 4 laserdiscs sent from Canada and the seller quoted me $28 US
for airmail postage.

I hadn't even thought of checking Ebay Canada or UK. I'm in North America, so I
usually just check the U.S. Ebay. I wouldn't ba able to play a PAL disc on an
American player anyway, would I? I definitely want the CAV version of the film.

Ah, I thought you were in the UK by the timestamp on your posts.

I don't know if your laserdisc player will be able to play PAL discs but
in this case it's irrelevant as the original BR Criterion CAV laserdisc
set was only produced in NTSC.

Irrelevant, as Criterion only produced discs in the U.S. (NTSC format).
Any Criterion disc showing up on eBay UK would be an American copy
imported into that country.

Yup, my player does NTSC & PAL, I only have 1 PAL disc as it came with
the player, all the others are NTSC as I specifically got my player so I
can get films on LD that aren't on DVD.

The Japanese CAV release of BR European Cut with Criterion Extra and a
better pressing regularly goes up to $60-90.

Yup, the the only hassle is when I turn them into PAL DVD-Rs...
removing the 3:2 pulldown etc.

It's not a better pressing. Although it comes from Criterion's transfer,
the picture is noticeably softer and washed out in direct comparison, as
if the master tape were dubbed down a generation first.
