I want to put a dish on the side of my house. It's wood frame with
fiberglass shingles. How do you locate a stud to attach to? I tried a stud
finder but it doesn't seem to work on the exterior.

Look at the world today. Is there anything more pitiful? What madness there
is. What blindness. What unintelligent leadership. A scurrying mass of
bewildered humanity, crashing headlong against each other, compelled by an
orgy of greed and brutality. The time must come my friend, when this orgy
will spend itself. When brutality and the lust for power, must perish by its
own sword. -Lost Horizon, 1936

If you look carfully you may be able to see the heads of the nails
attching the board to the stud.
or you may see the stud poking oth the bottom,
or if you can only see the botom plate or top plate, look for nails
going to the stud.
