I recently received a laserdisc with the beginning stages of laser rot. Will
it hurt my player to watch the movie.

Hi

You should be OK to watch the laserdisc. If the player starts to have
problems reading the disc and the motor starts to spin or struggle
then I'd remove the laserdisc, however you should be OK.

I've watched many a rotted laserdisc on my D701 or at least played the
laserdisc to backup it up to DVD if it was still watchable
and unavailable to buy on DVD.

Regards
