I would say probably an industrial unit that they tweaked for their own
needs.

I found this 11-year old post by a THX intern that "QC'ed" the Star
Wars Definitive set:

"If you'd like to know, here is the set up where I QC'ed these
discs: Lexicon CP-3, NAD amps, Panasonic LX-1000 LD player,
Vidikron video projector with Faroujda line doubling. We saw it on a
THX approved transparent screen (that's acoustically transparent) that
was masked for a 16:9 ratio. (The screen was 16:9, not the image)"
