Thanks for the replies guys. Can someone who has both the Definitive
set and the Faces set tell me which has better lookng playback? I know
that CAV movies have smoother looking fast-forward and rewind, but is
there a discernable video difference during regular playback
(specifically regarding the SW sets)?

I know they're supposedly from the same video transfer, but...

The difference is small. If your LD player is prone to the CLV streaking
artifact, the CAV sets will avoid that, but of course you will have a
side change every 30 minutes.

and don't forget that the first pressing of the DC had some flaws like
missing 7 seconds from TESB and reported rot-problems.

The faces editions had two pressings. The first ones where made by Pioneer
USA (with the usual drop-outs for which
Pioneer USA was 'famous'), the second run made by Kuraray Japan...as usual
perfect!!!

Personally I prefer my Kuraray faces ... less side breaks, good picture.
