I remember years ago this title was one of the more collectable laserdiscs
around. I recently saw one in a used record shop and was wondering if the
dvd(s) release makes the old laserdisc pretty much worthless or not. FWIW,
the LD was the fullscreen, stereo CX encoded, extended play, 2 sided version
from around 1985 and manufactured by Pioneer and released by Pacific Arts
Video records.

Is this disc worth picking up ($25) now?

i paid $200 for the Coppola autographed DVD from the film institute while
the legal issues were still going on, and expressed an interest in buying
the copyright, or perhaps a share of it, to license to criterion for release
on dvd and laserdisc done right. i've had 2 copies come and go, the first i
sold for $250 and the second for $100 just as i knew that the dvd was going
to be released. ebay is a very good benchmark source as to value of any
particular title such as this, the DVD is very good, if the laserdisc is rot
free, i would buy it in a heartbeat for $25-- it's still relatively rare.
heck ebay, you might get it cheaper there-- if so, go for it; if not, buy
the one at your local store and enjoy the hell out of it---:)
