I purchased a CLD-3070 on ebay and it worked great for about a week then
all of a sudden it won't open and the disc that is in the player will not
play either. I am unsure how this happened. You can hear the motor trying
to open the tray but that is it. when I pull the front panel down to look
in it seems like the tray is stuck between being up and down. I read
that these take a long time to take apart and clean. I have the time but
I am wondering if anyone has any advice on determining if the mechanism is
completely shot. If so I suppose I have a new massive paper weight. Any
advice or ideas would be apreciated.

They're easy enough to pop the top lid off and
take a look as the mechanism while it's trying
to operate.

I had a problem that turned out to be a disc
label that had come off while the disc was
playing that didn't notice had come off when
I took the disc out and had gotton caught in
some gears. A few seconds later after pulling
it out the player was fixed.

I would take the top off and help it open or fully close. The white tabs on
each side move forward and back to raise and lower the tray. See if it just
needs some help to get it going again. Probably does need a good cleaning
though.
