I have had this Tivo since Christmas and it has always recorded
Raymond, but this week, skipped it. It DID record Still Standing and
Two and a half Men and CSI Miami as usual. There was not a conflict.
Any suggestions out there??

Thanks,
Ron

What does the TiVo give as the reason for not recording it?

Wait for the Comcast developers to fix it.

But Comcast developers are apparently too stupid to be counted on to
develop their own product, and Comcast decided to _pay TiVo_ to develop
better software for their boxes...

What part of this don't you understand, Sean?

Was it a repeat by any chance?

Ok, that's a bit funny ;-). But seriously, I think it's been an
unspoken rule that this group doesn't discuss what shows are *worth*
recording. It could *really* get ugly! Just over American Idol alone!
;-) (Which apparently is much better this season !?)

Ah, so this will be your new catch phrase.

Too bad it sounds like Comcast is paying TiVo to do all the work,
which kind of makes you look foolish. Again.

Check your recording options for the ELR Season Pass. It's probably set
to record _only_ new (first-run) episodes. I believe Raymond is currently
airing episodes voted on as fan favs ---by definition, repeats---as a
tribute to the series in this, its final season, and because the cast
contracted to do only a limited number of eps for this final season. (You
can select it in your SP options also if you want TiVo to record both first
run and repeat episodes.)

Also make sure you don't have your options set to "Keep Until I Delete"
while also indicating a maximum number of episodes to maintain. If this is
the case, once your number of episodes recorded reaches the max you've
indicated, TiVo will only resume recording once you delete your recorded
episodes to some number below that maximum---even if there's no conflict.

For your favorite shows you may want to indicate "Keep Until I Delete"
and, for number of eps, "All Episodes." Though this reduces the space
you'll have available on your hard drive until you manually delete, it does
ensure your favorite shows are safeguarded.

I had to manually tell mine to record it because it wasn't on the "To
Do" list beforehand. I think it's because it was a "viewer's choice"
episode without a title and episode number, and last week was also
"viewer's choice" so Tivo think it's the same episode. The original
airdate is listed as 2/28/05, so that also adds the issue of Tivo
thinking it had been on in the last 28 days.

Something like that. Anyway, mine wouldn't have worked either if I
hadn't happened to check it a few minutes before. The next 2 weeks
will also be "viewer's choice" so you might want to change your
settings.

I haven't watched it yet, though, so I can't tell you what ep. it is.
:)

This is exactly why the 'To Do List" should be checked on occasion or to be
more thorough go through the 'Season Passes' and view upcomming episodes of
each to see what will be recorded. While Tivo is generally great at doing
it's job, It's not perfect. You still need to step in and make sure
everything is as it should be once in a while.

Did you look?

TiVo Central -> Pick Programs to Record -> To Do List -> View Recording
History

Find the episode it didn't record and find out why. This is a good
debugging tool for issues like what you had.

Thanks Randy. I totally agree. Sometimes, we just need mindless
dribble to take our minds off the daily "stuff" we deal with.
