Problem with HBO/Cinemax feeds on 4DTV

I know this seems to make little sense but ----

On G1 I can get a decent signal - quality 36+ on channels above 150.

From 100 to anything under 150 I can get a signal of 12 or so that often
degrades to a pixilated mess or no video at all.

Sometimes I can watch the channels from 100 - to under 150 for an hour with
no problems - sometimes they just won't come in.

I can move to another Sat & get good quality numbers --- 99 on C4.

I am at a loss to figure this out -- I have an extra LNB laying around
somewhere --- but I can't think of a reason that the LNB would cause this
kind of issue.

I thought it might be a some tree/bush problems -- but I trimmed them back
without any positive results.

Anybody got theory? Anybody else noticed a signal drop from these channels?

Thanks - --- Interesting but I don't think it addresses my problem -
I've had this system for 20 years. It is an 8' solid dish with a 15 degree
LNB in Northern Indiana. I've had the digital receiver for many years. It
has only recently begun to show these problems.
If I repeak the dish location or skew I *might* get some very minor
improvement for a while.

Sounds like it is time to peak the dish. You get any KU?

I don't have KU --- I tried peaking it without success -- a new LNB has
solved the issue.

Thanks though...

I am in central california....own a BUD and 4DTV receiver
920.......experiencing problems with G1 HBO AND MAX digital signals,
transponders 100 thru 111. For some time I attempted to correct this
problem to no avail and then finally realized that the digital signals were
confined to HBO and Max digital signals, and not the digital signals of
Startz and Encore.

I called my provider and was told that digital HBO AND MAX signals are being
sent at a compression of 16 to 1 and not 10 to 1 as are the other
programmers on this satellite of which I am not experiencing problems with
their digital signals (whatever that means). The only transponders I have
problems with are digital HBO AND MAX transponders G1 100 thru 111. The
rest are no problem.......coming in beautiful..........with the Startz and
Encore programming.

I have attempted to contact HBO via email and have received no answer as of
yet, and was given a phone number to call also. That number is 1 212 512
1000 for those that are interested.

I pay for HBO and Max analog signals and thus the digital signals are also
suppose to be available as alternatives. Being that I pay for the analog, I
believe that HBO and Max need to get with it and provide these digital
signals as the proper compression thus providing alternatives to viewing
times.

If you are successful in determining if this is the problem for these
transponders..............please keep me advised @ my email addy.

thanks
J

I was having problems with anything on G-1 at 100 or above & below 150. A
new LNB restored them to their old strength -- which is viewable but much
lower in signal strength than Starz/Encore.

I have had a serviceman come out and he has peaked the dish. Works finebut
the strength of signal needs improvement when compared to remaining
transponders on G1.
