smartphone wont boot up

Samsung galaxy mini S2 ( GT-S6500) when switching the phone on its just sticks on the start up menu and vibrates a little. took it to a shop and he said it may be a software problem.did try downloading S/W again but doesnt work. Screen says `failed attempt `. Anything else I can try?

try this, press the volume button, power and menu key down at the same time, then there should be an option to reset the phone to the factory settings. Alternatively, try installing the software from your computer to your phone.

thanks but have tried all of the above. it just sticks at the `downloading` android logo and then after some time it says `failed`. can you post a link to the S/W I need to re-install it? I have the `Kies`S/w but doesnt seem to help at all.
