Did they ask these teens if they planned to buy it themselves or if they planned to have an adult buy it for them? $350 is a solid chunk of change for a smartphone accessory, especially given that the Nexus 5 costs $350 and is an entire phone. Most teens can't afford their phone on their own let alone an additional $350 for a smartwatch. Don't get me wrong - of course there are teens who work hard and make enough money to buy things but that group is nowhere near 17% of teens.

yes, and most who work to earn their on money have a harder time letting it go on such rubbish.

... and what percentage of those teens own a watch now? Close to zero as a guess - watches are an old person's game.

So...these are the teens that could get their parents to fork out the money.

Also, the teen market for smartwatches can't be that big...
