Should I buy a new headset or a standalone microphone?

I've used the Creative Fatal1ty Pro headset for a while now, but recently the microphone on it has essentially broken. It's very quiet unless I put a lot of microphone boost on, which obviously makes the quality horrible.

I appreciate the audio quality of the headphones though, so I'm unsure as to whether I'm better off buying either a separate standalone microphone or one I can attach to this headset. The microphone on the Fatal1ty is removable, so I'm sure it would be easy enough to replace. I've looked at the Blue Yeti but it's slightly out of my price range.

I want the microphone quality to be decent, because I'd like to use it for recording purposes, not just for gaming. I'm looking at a fairly budget level price, preferably <£70.

Thanks!

To add, I like the logistics of a headset, but I realise it's only worth it if the microphone quality is decent.
