So I was just thinking about this during the day and was curious if it was even possible (let alone safe). If a laptop comes with two (2) separate harddrives installed, could you replace one with a battery to extend the usage time of the laptop?

Logistically speaking, the battery would need to have power coming in and going out. I don't know if the cables are capable of doing this. This could be completely absurd, but I'm curious! Thanks in advance!

Even if you could hook up a correctly sized battery (None come to mind) To a SATA port designed for data transfer, I doubt that the SATA port is designed to cope with much power going in or out.

Hi, to answer your question "Possible to swap out laptop hard drive with a battery?", no you can't do that. You need a circuit who will switch between the two batteries. Some laptop you can replace the DVD for a second battery, but you also have a second connector for the battery in the bay.
