I have found a few that I would like advice on. She doesn't need a great graphics card, or great sounds, or even that great of resolution. I want to get the best bang for my buck at under $500. As far as what she will be doing I feel she will benefit the most from an SSD. But a lot of these 125gb SSDs don't have such great rating. I also hesitate to buy a separate SSD which would require her to pay attention and not fill up the C: since all it should have on it would be the OS and maybe vscan. Anyways, please share thoughts on which of these is the best deal, or where I can find better:

what is she planning on doing with the laptop? if its just browsing the web and other basic stuff, then any laptop will do.

out of those options i would go for the lenovo ideapad u510. That hybrid 1 tb harddrive with the 24gb ssd will boot up the computer much faster than a traditional hard drive and it should be big enough no matter what she stores on it. Also it comes with the most ram at 8 gb.

Mostly web browsing. Possibly some light, very light, gaming. As I stated above, the problem with a 24gb SSD is that when you install anything, it will be default choose the C:. Which at 24gb can fill very quickly. I have a 60gb ssd on my desktop and even accidentally next-next-finish install something and put it on C accidentally. Still though, does seem a good deal if I can get her to be careful.

I'm also considering one of these as a more budget laptop. They are under $300, but are grade B factory refurbs.

on a hybrid drive, you dont get to choose what goes on the SSD portion. It automatically stores the programs you use most. So windows will eventually be on there, then the next programs she will use most often. There is nothing to really worry about.

OK, this just shows how little I've looked into hardware recently. I did not even know hybrids like this existed. I just assumed it was 2 drives, which is what my desktop is. This is greatly helps my decision making process.
