Yeah you're better off contacting your provider or the manufacturer. If the device is still under warranty they are obligated to provide you with a working replacement free of charge. I had a similar thing happen to my Samsung Galaxy Tab and my provider is providing me with a free replacement.
Common sense would dictate that you take it to an authorized service center or at least call the tablet manufacturer's support site. It sounds like the device was physically damaged.

There is a little teeny hole which is a reset button. take a safety pin,straight pin, whatever and stick in hole for a second or two. that should start it. at least it worked on mine.
