How can I record my screen

So I have a youtube and I would like to record some gameplay, but im scared of rooting my phone then itll become bricked. Is there someway to simply just record gameplay. My phone is a tmobile mytouch q. I use a laptop so I cant install on any devices. Also, I dont want to have to root because my phone will brick. Also if someone could explain what brick mean and does and for what reason.
