Hello,

I'm looking for the following, but not sure if it exists yet:

Windows 8 tablet (not RT)
Haswell processor
Preferably 8" (10" if no other option)
GPS
Cellular (preferably 4G)
Budget flexible but not unlimited

Any tips gratefully received!

1. Is This Your First Time Buying A Tablet? No.

2. Do you already have an operating system in mind? Windows 8 (not RT)

3. What screen size do you have in mind? 8" (10" at a push)

4. Preferred Brand(s) - Not fussed

5. Brands Not Preferred (specify why) - As above

6. How much do you want to spend on your tablet? Flexible

7. Do you have cellular service? Or do you want the tablet to be WiFi only? Need cellular

8. If you do have cellular service, who is your provider and how much data are you allowed per month? Varies

9. Do you want the tablet to be a full laptop replacement? No

10. What existing apps do you use? What do you intend to do with this tablet? Run various windows software

Sorry, but you are not going to find a Haswell CPU in an 8" Windows tablet. Those only have Bay Trail generation Atom CPUs.

You need to look at larger tablets if you want a Haswell CPU. The 10.6" Microsoft Surface 2 Pro is an example. There will likely not be a Haswell CPU in any 8" tablet because they generate too much heat (a fan is necessary) and drains too much power for a smaller capacity battery.

Perhaps you may find a Broadwell generation core i3 / i5 CPU in next generation 8" Win 8 tablets in mid / late 2014 since they will consume less power than Haswell generation CPUs and there could be a few ultra low voltage variants that only requires a heatsink.

Thanks for the replies - very useful!

I'd rather take fanless 8" over haswell 10", so that has helped a lot.

So my revised requirements are:
8"
Bay Trail
GPS (AGPS won't cut it for me)
Cellular
Ideally, HDMI out

So far, I've come up with:
Lenovo Miix2 - no HDMI out
Toshiba Encore - no cellular
Acer Iconia W4 - not sure of the specs
Dell Venue 8 - no GPS, no cellular

Have I missed anything out? Nothing seems to tick all the boxes at the moment :pfff:

I think the Miix2 comes closest (I'll have to look to a miracast solution with it) depending on what the Iconia W4 comes up with.
