My dad wants to get a tablet for $200 dollars. I told him to get a surface but he said he doesnt need it and wants the galaxy tab. Does anyone else have any good recommendations?

The Nexus 7 2013 is definitely a good choice, I don't know about the price in America though. The Nexus 7 2013 has a really good 1080p screen with vivid (but life like) colours, a quad core processor that can game adequately, the latest android updates, stereo speakers at the back (nothing to amazing though). It's also pure Android, so you get that lag-free experience. The Nexus 7 2012 is alright as well, you'll still have a slightly higher than 720p screen, and a stock android experience. So to conclude get the Nexus 7 2013 if possible, if not you could get the Nexus 7 2012 but you will sacrifice Processing power, screen quality, and a slightly worse speaker. However you may want to look at the Tegra Tab 7 as well, if you can't...

The 2012 Nexus 7 basically has a 1280x800 resolution screen while the current 2013 version has a 1920x1080 resolution screen. It also has a more powerful CPU. You should be able to final the 2012 Nexus 7 for $200 or so, at least were able to during Black Friday / Cyber Monday and Christmas sales.

The 2012 Nexus 7 is still pretty good, but if your dad really wants something with a 1080p screen and a more powerful processor to play the latest games, then get the 2013 version.

I have the 2012 Nexus 7 and I do not plan on replacing it until either the end of 2014 or sometime in 2015 for an 8" Windows tablet because it can run the full version of Win 8 or whatever the OS will be by then.
