How to get pictures from a cell phone that will not power on

My Samsung Galaxy Android phone just powered off one day and wouldn't power back on. The Sim and memory card was fine but I had pictures saved to the phone itself. Is there anyway or any company that can get phones to turn back on. My carrier did say that this was a known problem with some of the android phiones and sent me out a new handset. My problem is I want to get the damaged phone on in order to get my pictures from it.

When you connect your defective phone to your PC with your USB cable, does the PC recognize it as connected?

I take it you tried a new battery first, if not, try that.
If the pics were on an external SD card, you can just remove the card and use a card reader to copy things out. If not, you can't get to the local storage on the phone unless it's on. You can check with a store to see if they can do anything if you did not check yet.
