5s is just too expensive. I'm looking at either a 5c, 5 or 4s, and either 8GB or 16GB storage. My carrier is Verizon, if that matters. The 5c is $100 and the 4s is $0 for 8GB or $50 for 16GB. My question is, what's the difference between a 5 and 5c, other than the colorfulness, and for the 4s am I going to need 16GB or is 8 enough? I'm only gonna use it for normal phone uses, internet, and some games. Twitter and Facebook as well, obviously.

Solution
8GB is more than enough for a user using it as a phone, browser and light gaming.

5/5C have faster cpu's and gpu's than the 4s, which is better for gaming, but not for anything else.

If I were you, I would get the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5c is pretty much identical to the iPhone 5 in terms of specs, just the the iPhone 5c is got more frequency bands, which really means you can use the phone on more countries. And now the iPhone 5c it's plastic instead of aluminum on the iPhone 5. Don't get the 4s. It does not support LTE, slower hardware, and possibly be unsupported soon, which means no more OS updates. About storage, personally in my opinion, you probably want 16GB. The reality of phones in terms of storage, is that, to those storage manufacturers, 1GB = 1000MB, 1MB = 1000KB, and etc. But it's really 1GB = 1024MB, 1MB = 1024KB, etc. So that is why you get lesser storage when you purchase a storage product. If you get like a 8GB iPhone, you probably end up with 6-7GBs since there's the OS also. But, it really depends on you.

Well, the thing that threw me off with that (my original plan was the iPhone 5) is Verizon's store lists an odd price for the iPhone 5. It says with a 2-year contract the phone is $299.99, which is obviously bonkers. Do they stop selling them with the release of the new 5c/5s?

I don't know about Verizon, but Apple has discontinued with the production of the iPhone 5 after the 5c/5s release. Maybe you should ask a local store to see the actual price, maybe they got better deals over there.
