try using shift+2 for the @ symbol. If that works then you've accidentally chosen a US keyboard
if you want the shift+2 to give the quotation marks then try to get an @ from shift and the 'comma key' (just left of hash). If that works you've accidentally chosen a UK keyboard. just switch between them until you find what you're used to
