I have been looking for some time now for a laptop that I can use for general browsing among other things, but also have some decent gaming capabilities. My budget was initially around £500 but I am flexible, finding two options around £600. They are:

Dell Inspiron 17R SE - £600

Memory2
8GB3 DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz

1TB Serial ATA (5400RPM)
Video Card
2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 650M 90W
Optical Drive : 8x DVD+/-RW Optical Drive

Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2230 Card (802.11n + BT 4.0)

Primary 6-cell 48W/HR LI-ION

Or...

MSI CX61 - £650

Intel® Core™ i7-4702MQ Haswell Quad Core Processor
15.6" HD Screen
Microsoft Windows 8 64bit
8GB DDR3 RAM
1000GB HDD
DVD-RW
Dedicated GT 740M 2GB Graphics

Bluetooth
USB3
CX61 2OD-010UK
Brushed Mineral Grey

My question is this: Which would be the best system, specifically with gaming performance in mind? The benchmarks from notebookcheck seem to indicate the i5/GT650m setup is superior, in terms of FPS at least. What do you think, and are there any better options at this price range?

The MSI got a better cpu, and the dell has a better gpu. In terms of gaming the Dell laptop would perform better, but in the long run, the msi laptop will be the best choice it will last more time without problems and the support service is better and cheaper.
