Laptop for engineering student

I am going to be an engineering student this fall and I am wondering is the lenovo thinkpad s431 will meet my needs.

Processor
Intel Core i7-3537U Processor (4M Cache, up to 3.10 Ghz) on Mother Board Operating System

Graphics card
AMD Radeon HD 8670M Graphics 1GB.Intel Core i7-3537U processor (2.00GHz, up to 3.10GHz with Turbo Boost, 4MB L3 Cache, 1600MHz)

RAM is 8gb

Are you going to be modelling things? I don't know what you do as an engineering student but i'm guessing you'll be storing lots of things on your PC, so the 500gb of the S431 base model should do you fine.

That laptop will serve you well for general usage and you'll be able to play games on it if you have any spare time, hehe.

Keep in mind that notebook i7's that are a "U" model is NOT a quad core (dual core w/ HT making it 4 thread count) For your engineering works, I highly recommend a quad core cpu, so look for i7 cpus that are quad core (total of 8 thread count w/ HT). The performance difference is exactly 200% higher at the same clock speed. The only thing is that "U" models are usually installed in Ultramobile laptops, so compare the travel weight to see if the performance increase is worth the weight increase.
