Hi guys,
I'm planning on buying a new gaming laptop in the next 2-3 weeks I've been buying stuff from newegg for the last few years and I want to buy it from them. I'm on a $1000 USD budget. The Lenovo's IdeaPad Y580 (59345715) that sells for $850. What do you guys think? Is this the better option or should I keep looking? Please give me your thoughts.

Regards,
Armando A

You should never matter screen when choosing a laptop.
You should see its performance first
Screen can be externally connected too.

I highly recommend the Lenovo Y580, best bang for buck you can get.

But keep in mind while gaming that the laptop can get dangerously hot.
Make sure to monitor your GPU/CPU and HDD temps all the time and don't do heavy gaming without a cooling pad.

Last thing, the HDD is placed in a really stupid place in the laptop (between GPU/CPU) so it gets hottest the most, you should look into moving it into the optical bay drive for safer temps. (by dangerous HDD temps I mean 50C+)

Aside from these annoying issues this laptop really is a beast.

Screen is of very high importance. You are looking at the screen every time you use the laptop. Furthermore, the difference between a low quality and a high quality screen can be a visually differentiating as the difference between med and low sometimes. Colours are more vivid, etc.

thank you for your answers.
I think I will be sticking with nvidia for now because from time to time I will be working on Solidworks which works better using nvidia GPUs

Hey, Bluehefner,
In your last laptop, Graphics is way too much, and there is not much processing power left :pfff:
I would not recommend buying the last laptop.
It is strongly recommended going with the Idea pad Y580 by Lenovo

Yes, i thought he would wants the best GPU he can get as he did not specify his requirements....and it beats Intel Core i5-2410M so it's not tht bad..+ His title says he wants it for gaming so I personally think this is best choice for him.
