Hi all, :)

I stupidly bought a amplifier (a Technics SU-V550) on eBay without looking at reviews first, because I liked the look of it. When it arrived I googled it. The only two mentions of it I could find said it wasn't very good.

The main thing I'm using it for is to record vinyl and tapes to my computer. I have a Onkyo TA 2750 Tape Deck and a Technics SL-D3 record player.

The four things I want to know are:

1) Can I plug the amp into my computer using the 'RECOUT TAPE2/EXT' or the 'RECOUT TAPE1/DAT'?
2) Does anyone here have any experience of the Technics SU-V550 amp?
3) Will using the SU-V550 lower the quality of my recording?
4) I've seen a 'Cambridge Audio A1 V3.0 MK2' for sale. Would that be better for what I want?

Thank you!

1. Yes you can although you can connect the cassette deck directly if you wish. Only the turntable needs the phono preamp inside the Technics.
2. No experience with it but definitely not in the league of the Cambridge.
3. Since you are using a fairly inexpensive turntable I would say that if you are happy with the sound through the Technics then you are OK.
4. Cambridge is better.
