Tablet for a Student?

I didn't see a dedicated "tablets" forum on the list, so I'm putting this thread here, figuring it would be the closest fit.

My old Asus Netbook is on its' last legs, and I'll be needing a replacement in the next month or so. I'm quite interested in these new-fangled tablets that I keep seeing, but have no idea where to start when looking for one to buy.

I can't afford a data plan, so WiFi is the only option for internet access

I need a keyboard option for taking notes and such in class

I would like to play some games between classes, but I hear that normal PC games don't work on most tablets

Budget is around $400 (but obviously the lower the cost, the better)

The first one is a nexus 7, everyone's favorite 7-inch tablet.
The second is a Galaxy Note 10.1, a bit over budget though, but has a s-pen smart stylus to write down notes (very handy for a student like you)
Both are powerful tablets and can play the latest android games.

One HUGE disadvantage of a tablet for a student.... NO KEYBOARD....think about it seriously....
