I looked through the Rules of Conduct and did not see anything prohibiting information regarding resetting a forgotten password, so…

First, it depends on what version of OS X you are using.

If it is Lion (10.7), then the process is much easier.


If you are using a previous version, then it will be best if you have the OS X installation disc.


If you don't have the installation disc.


Hopefully this will point you in the right direction.
