I don't really have an answer for that. Windows XP media center is great in that it has a lot of functionality built into the OS, but it is still a glorified version of XP Home. Go get a video capture card from www.newegg.com. You should be able to find one that has software bundled with it. You'll be able to do everything that XP Media center offers. I got an e-vga GeForce 5700 AGP card with a cable TV breakout box. The whole thing came with a remote DVD and movie editing/burning software. It works great. I would suggest going with a straight capture card not integrated with a VGA card. That way when you want to upgrade your systems graphics card you can without losing your capture card too.
