Well basically, top topic is in the subject line. Any one every owned an Asus G50VT before? I'm stripping mine down as we speak and trying to overhaul the cooling system. I'll have pics shortly and some stress test results.

Any input or info?

Why yes I have one, it's my primary computer. An easy cooling boost;
#1 Upgrade from the stock Delta KDB05105HB “7F36” 13 fin fan, to the Forcecon DFS541305MH0T “F8U5” 17 fin fan. It moves a good notch more air. $15 or cheaper shipped on line.
#2. Perhaps dremel out the fake subwoofer on the bottom and leaf it clear for airflow. This helps the temperature of the CPU/GPU heatsinks, but the rest of the laptop tends to run a bit warmer because now the fan isn't sucking air from all the little vents on the bottom of the laptop, but just the big hole.
#3. Use MX-2 heatsink compound when repasting after upgrading the fan. It is rated at 7 years of durability, which is important in laptops.

With those 3 changes, I have an X9100 dual core CPU in it, a 3.45GHZ/1.3125V at full utilization both cores, and full utilization of the GPU (all running Seti@home). CPU sits at about 78 Celsius and GPU at 85 Celsius. Happy as can be. Can crank it up to 3.7GHZ at 1.4V or so but it gets to 90C or so then, but still perfectly stable.
Quite a machine. X9100 CPUs are pretty cheap now. Can still compete with modern laptops in some areas.
Very durable, have been running at 3.45GHZ, both CPU and GPU crunching seti@home nearly 24/7 for over a year, no stability problems.
