70C is not cold, nowhere close to cold. You could try running it on top of a upright fan turned on its side for extra cooling.

EDIT: and brett is right, usually the more thought and detail you put into your original question, the more thought and detail you will get in the answers.

Actually, 70c is decent for a graphics card under full load. This graphics card would reach temps as high as 85c with some standard benchmarks.

Lenovo y580
GTX 660m 2gb GPU
i7 6310QM 2.3ghz
500gb hdd 7200rpm

The laptop would turn off after a little bit of gaming, usually it's after one hour of gaming. In the video I describe that the game I was playing was League of Legends, which is really light on this computer. 70c is about as low as I can get while playing modern games. I had a laptop fan connected on the bottom of the computer, so that's why I was getting these temps, if not they would be extreemely high. The drivers are the ones from the Lenovo website, if I try the official nvidia drivers then I get blue screens instead of this type of computer crash.

I just tried writing a reply to this on my laptop and it turned off. I do not know what is wrong with it, or why it's acting like this.

And to Jones, GPUS can whitstand temperatures much higher than those of CPUs. My old desktop fermi card would rise up to 90c when playing some games, and that was pretty common. I've seen people game with temperatures averaging 81c on this laptop.

Yes it is, I called once and they said it was driver issues. I wanted to see if I it was a laptop problem or if it just plain overheats and crashes because of bad computer design before I return it for another one.

Can you factory restore it and check to see what happens? If that doesn't fix it, update to the latest drivers on Lenovo's site. If THAT doesn't fix it, tell them you've tried all their certified drivers and you want them to fix it.

I did try factory reset and it still didn't work. I'm going to install a driver that comes in the lenovo website that's meant for windows 8 computers but it's the only one that's left. After this, if it doesn't work, my last option is uninstalling everything that has to do with graphics card alteration and see if a program is messing with drivers. If it STILL doesn't work then I'll have to do what you said and tell them to fix it for me.

Seems like no one has knowledge of this type of problem. This might help.

NOTE: I do not see the bluescreen happening, it just turns off, and sometimes gets corruped with artifacts.
