Hello All,

Gateway MC7801u laptop from 2008. Great machine running Vista until the hard drive died. Decided to go with Windows 8 with the fix.

Post-upgrade, the touch-sensitive controls (to the right of the keyboard) that launch apps (web, email, etc) no longer work. App for the integrated web cam, which loaded on startup and featured a drop down control plan when the cursor was placed at the top center of the screen is also gone.

How can I restore these features with the new OS? Looks like I have to pay Gateway a support fee before I can even contact them about this.

Any tips / guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The OP implied he replaced the HDD, so Win8 must have been a clean install. The gateway driver site for that model only lists drivers for Windows Vista and doesn't list applications at all. The Gateway application that ran the touch buttons and the Gateway webcam app may take some work to track down online, if there are versions that will work with Windows 8 at all.
