I'm confused between these two laptops.Which one is better in overall,,?

Which display is better XWGA LCD(sony) or HD WLED(dell) ?

And which sound is better Waves MaxxAudio 4.0(dell) or xLoud(sony) ?

This is my first laptop and will be the last atleast for 3-5years..I really want to go for i3 processor based lap as i only use it for reading and watching movies and working on keil software and not for gaming..The price difference between i3 to i5 is 5000rupees (110$)

Is it a safe bet if i go for i3 instead of i5..?

The Dell monitor has a more efficient (less power required) backlighting system WLED, than the Sony, it also has a better graphics processor than the Sony (HD 7670M vs HD 7650M) and the Dell also has three USB3.0 ports, while the Sony has only two USB2.0 ports. The difference in USB 3.0 vs USB 2.0 alone is enough to sway the buying decision.

I don't know if you have the option of buying extended support for the DELL in India, but ifyou do, buy it. It is well worth the money. Stick with the i5 processor.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood you, I thought you said you were going to keep this new laptop for 3 to 5 years. You're right, the i3 is definitely the way to go. Also, I can see where "stylish looks" beats USB 3.0 and better video, hands-down!

I am in the same state as yours, I feel Sony is the only brand highly priced, but superior build quality.

Get the dell if possible upgrade it to further future proof it with an ssd and 8Gb if that is possible for later on. Make sure the screen is sufficient since it is relatively low quality pixel wise without 1920x1080. If possible wait until haswell since the price will probably drop for a new haswell or that machine.
