Laptop won't start, please help

So I was using my laptop, it was plugged in. And then all of a sudden it crashed. I heard a clicking noise as it crashed (not sure if that is is important) anyone have any idea what I should do? Please help

The clicking noise could bea mechanical failure of the harddrive

OR

Something on the motherboard could have shorted, a cap may have blown.

You can try a new hard drive, a new battery, and if neither of those solves the problem, a cap must have blown on the motherboard.
