Low sound volume on Toshiba

I am using an old Toshiba Satellite. The volume has recently turned VERY LOW. I can barely hear it. I have turned the volume control to 100% on the desktop icon and turned the volume to 100% in the control panel. Still I can only remotely hear sound. Can anyone suggest another idea?

Some laptops have a physical control on the case to control volume: look on the sides of the laptop for a volume knob.
