Toshiba Satellite L840 Re-installation Problem

I just bought a toshiba satellite l840 with windows 8 pre-installed. However I wish to install windows 7 as some of my programs are not compatible with windows 8. I cannot boot from the installation cd thought I have resset the boot sequence in BIOS to cd drive as priority 1. Much appreciate any help on this.
